As children, we learn early on that for the situations we face in life have some form of balance; a down to every up, a yin for every yang. Sometimes the silver lining is easier to notice, other times you can look forever and never seem to find it...
When word of a young girl being struck by a car in our small hometown of Gray, Maine made its way to the Stella Karmine Originals crew, it stopped us in our tracks. Surely, the fact that the injured, Delilah Talon, 15 of North Yarmouth, Maine is.
We're very happy to report that Delilah was upgraded from critical to serious condition yesterday (Thurs 6/10). Dalilah was walking with two friends when she was struck by a vehicle, driven by an elderly man. She was thrown into the windshield and endured multiple injuries.
Clearly the silver lining of this situation is that Delilah is surviving the ordeal, but we want to crank that lining up a notch via spreading awareness: We're hoping that this post reaches across the country, and around the world to serve as a reminder that every driver must be hyper-aware of the presence of kids & teens, fresh out of school and soaking up everything the summer has to offer. Stay alert while you're driving! Pedestrians, motorcycles, scooters, bicyclists, etc are all smaller modes of transport that drivers (especially in cooler climates) aren't used to "having to look out for" after a long winter. Look, look twice and then look again - It could save a life.
Delilah is our #SuperheroSaturday real hero on Twitter this week ~ We're praying for you! :]
